Osei Tutu II (born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah; 6 May 1950) is the 16th Asantehene, enstooled on 26 April 1999. By name, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in direct succession to the 17th-century founder of the Ashanti Empire Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. He is also the Chanceller of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana and the Sword Bearer of the United Grand Lodge of England.

The main functions of chiefs include dispute settlement, codification of customary law, arrangement of ceremonies and festivals, organisation of communal labour and promotion of socioeconomic development. Chiefs have been involved in the development of their areas since precolonial times.
In Ghanaian society, the chief is the head of the community, which is also the traditional area of his jurisdiction. A chief is selected for unique qualities that make him an excellent representative of the community.

There is nobody in our present Ghana who is as powerful and famous as the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
